Dr.Curi and Dr.Magda are lifelong Connecticut residents.  They graduated from Yale University in 1997 and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2001.  Interestingly enough, despite taking all the same undergraduate pre-med classes, they met for the first time on the first day of medical school.

Deciding to change latitude for the first (and only) time, they completed their pediatric internships and residencies at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA in 2004.

They were married in 2003 and are raising their two daughters, Megan and Ella, in Torrington.

Dr. Curi was captain of the Yale Varsity Heavyweight Crew team.  This cultivated an intense interest in physical fitness and training.  He is a board member at the Northwest Connecticut YMCA.  He is the principal architect for the YMCA's annual WYLD Mud Run.  He is also a board member of the Fit Together community group that aims to build Torrington as the healthiest community in Connecticut.  He has served as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and on the Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. Magda serves as the medical advisor to Litchfield County Head Start.  She is also actively involved in Trinity Episcopal Church in Torrington.  Dr. Magda speaks Spanish and has worked with La Via Latina.  Dr. Magda is also one of the Corporators at Brooker Memorial in Torrington.

Dr.Curi and Dr.Magda are certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and created the Neonatal Code Review program at Charlotte Hungerford to stage practice sessions with the nursing staff on the Labor and Delivery unit.

Dr.Curi and Dr.Magda are both Associate Clinical Professors at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.  They have been participating as Preceptors in the Student Continuity Program at UConn School of Medicine since 2005 and are active mentors of current UConn Medical Students.  In addition, both are founding members of the Connecticut Childrens Medical Center Referring Physicians Advisory Board where we directly advise the CCMC administration on how to best coordinate patient care, physician communication and community outreach activities with statewide pediatricians.

Dr. Magda's medical interests include nutrition and exercise, allergy and asthma, and international health.  Dr. Magda enjoys travel, cycling, swimming and supporting local farmers markets.

Dr. Curi's medical interests include obesity, behavioral issues, and sports medicine.  Dr.Curi enjoys basketball, the New York Yankees, Tough Mudders and eating his wife's delicious local food dishes.

Staff

Our staff has over 80 cumulative years of working in primary care pediatrics.  We accept all insurance plans and are experienced in navigating the often time challenging insurance world.

We're the first pediatricians in Torrington to adopt Electronic prescribing.  This means that we will email your child's prescription directly over to whatever pharmacy you use.  This allows us to have a permanent record, eliminates any illegibility issues and allows the pharmacies to process the prescription quickly.  It also makes getting refills much simpler and minimizes any prescription errors.
